LG Watch Phone GD910 check
Overview, design and printing:
LG has finally launched the GD910 Watch Phone for the UK public for the far less than expected price of £ 500.
The question that we answer our phone LG examination shows is as it is packed with a touchscreen, Bluetooth and even a camera, is it still just one thing or the beginning of an era of real life?
The phone / watch (we'll go with the phone) is a stylish number, given the amount of technology packed under the hood.
It has a leather strap that fits through a simple tug "to form a system that loosens fairly regularly, you'll need to keep tightening it up.
The SIM card slot is located with the battery on the back of the phone, removed with a good amount of force using a coin. The phone still works without a SIM card, but if you're desperate to use it as a music player on your wrist is a bit redundant.
The unit itself is a sleek design and touch screen is much better than others on the market (but then, a touch screen 1.4-inch should be easier to work with a large 3-inch more effort).
The three buttons on the side are a bit fiddly to operate, with arm hair often pinched during use. Similarly, when you use your right hand, the screen is obscured by the hand while trying to work the phone.
LG has been clever in the design of the phone Watch GD910, however, with the call button to initiate a number of menus, and the hang-up button that takes you back to the top screen, with the middle button Simply navigate in both directions.
It is very light on the wrist, with much less fat than we expected. It is no stretch of imagination to see this being used as a "normal day".
The charger is a new concept, a clamp to hold the phone to a metal plate, which then connects to a USB charger for computer compatibility as well. It took a couple will get that perfect fit, but when we did we had to admit that was pretty cool.
Interface:
Let's be clear here, the LG Watch Phone GD910 not actually do much beyond call, SMS and playing the odd bit of music ... but again, would you want?
To this end, the GD910 has a basic interface, but given the limited capacity poke on the 1.4 inch screen, you can understand why.
The main interface is divided into six categories - the contacts and email (and settings), alerts, calendar and memo, and a direct link to the Voice / Video call.
The touchscreen, as noted above, is much improved over the efforts of LG touchscreen 'suitable', and you can navigate around the phone easily with pads on the left and right.
On some occasions, like trying to slip past the voice / video call section, and more often than not, we hit inadvertently options open the dialer, which is a bit annoying.
Things like clock and calendar are also an option as well as vertical, so you can scroll up and down to select new options, like a series of clocks to choose, memos or a shortcut to the floppy music.
All clocks: There are a multitude of choices for your dial
Voice calling is also activated by long pressing the Return key mode clock and gives you a choice of options to say. For example, saying: "Call Chantal" lead to the phone asks if you want to do (more often than not, he recognizes the name of the property), then calling after you say yes.
There are more obscure options in there, like asking what time it is, we can only assume is useful when you only have a Bluetooth headset. However, simply looking at your wrist makes much more sense.
Hitting the right options and drag left and right is very easy, and we are impressed by the responsiveness of the LG Watch Phone GD910.
Telephony and Messaging:
Let's make something clear - make sure you use a Bluetooth headset during the call on the LG Watch GD910. It is very easy to sync almost all options on the market (we used a HALO new Jabra headset with microphone, which provide a stereo microphone and two) and they are simply much more sense than talking to your wrist.
We tried the latter option when outside, but a) people can hear your conversation hands-free, b) there are not many places where you will not annoy people and c) you look like a complete idiot .
Video call is a little more acceptable, but simply in terms of holding the phone pointed towards your face is a little large. It's much easier to remove it from your wrist during the video call, which is not too bad thank you to the VGA camera on board (although we're not convinced video calls will be never use anyway).
Find the right contact to use is actually much more like a normal phone that you expect. You can browse the last menu called by pressing the call button or head through the contact list. You can either scroll through and search for names around it, although we do recommend not scroll using the touch screen because it takes a very long time.
The list of contacts gives users the ability to make calls using a small icon next to each name, or strike the name opens the possibility of video or voice call, or send a message.
Users can also create groups to send mass emails to friends, which makes much sense when one considers how difficult it is to interact with the phone repeatedly.
During a call: The screen during a phone call on GD910
Given the way the device is small, we were impressed by the coverage on the LG Watch GD910, with 3G operation on the property, no matter where we were.
And we have to love the convenience of having a vibrator on your wrist for a call or text - it makes life so much easier knowing that you will never miss a call with such a feature.
We were actually quite surprised at how easy it is to post on the LG Watch GD910 with virtual keyboard for touch screen that works pretty well. It's the standard 12-key layout, either with an option of T9 predictive text mode or multi-tap available.
Because screen space is at a premium, tricks LG has implemented to make it easier to send SMS on the phone Watch GD910 are impressive. Choosing a new word predictive text is activated by a pull-down menu next to the message and other options, such as capitalization and symbol mode, can be accessed by another menu at the bottom of the screen.
A slight irritation is that the messaging does not start with a capital, so the user will be finicky to fiddle about sorting that from the start, but it is really not a major referral.
Accuracy for SMS on the LG Watch is really phenomenal examine how the Teeny Tiny screen, with about 95 percent accuracy at least, the increase you get your fingers used to moving very short distances around screen.
We were impressed by the performance, and although the screen is a bit small, towers to extend it works well, although one can not help thinking that this is not a killer reason to buy the phone .
Camera and Media:
The camera on the LG Watch GD910 is frankly laughable, and, let's be honest, it's there because that LG might include. The front facing camera is only around for the videophone, and someone clearly in the Korean company saw an opportunity.
Photos can be taken using the touch screen, so unless you want to take pictures of your own face, there is not much you can do with it. LG has put some very nice features white balance on the phone Watch GD910, but it seems a little redundant when you can not accept real photos without trial and error trying to catch the subject.
Here is an example taken from the Olympus SP-565UZ so you can make your own opinion:
The LG GD910:
L'Olympus SP-565UZ:
As you can see, color, depth, clarity - almost everything on the LG Watch GD910 is very sub-standard. But we can not imagine the unit has been on there as evidence.
We are sad that the LG Watch Phone GD910 does not allow videos to be viewed on the device as some other options that are less known Asian brands, but we think we can not have everything in such a sleek device .
The music player (via our Jabra HALO ... we must remember that you should never use the external speaker in public for anything) was good and Bassy, and navigate the music player is actually much easier than we expected, thanks to the responsive touch screen.
The photo viewer is also a decent effort, with a list view for your folders and view a single horizontal to watch your shots. You can also zoom into photos and scroll around using the touchscreen, although it is primarily for viewing staff as showing the pictures to others forces you to practically dislocate your wrist.
Battery and Connectivity:
As you can imagine, there is no Movie Maker or Photo Editing Suite aboard GD910 LG Watch Phone, but there are some organizational things to keep you occupied if it is how you want to use your wrist.
The calendar functions memo and calculator are all there, and work very well. The calendar is available from the top menu with the usual features of a mobile phone, namely to be able to set appointments and birthdays and have a rehearsal or a single alarm to remind you what happens.
The memo function also lives on the top menu, displaying the last written note, which strangely can not be left empty after the first time you write about him. Note: better write something that you do not bother me to read again and again as you past the slip.
We would have been completely shocked if we could not have a calculator on the LG Watch GD910, like a calculator on the wrist is something we've been since we have a child. Fortunately, you're still as cool a door as an adult (well, we think so).
Multiple alarms also live on the GD910, which means you can set reminders for you everywhere, and there are more options than the sound of old-alarm beep, beep-beep "sounds Ye old Hits Digital.
Battery life is actually pretty good, and we must admit that we did not expect after having received the charger case, but we managed three good days of use before we needed to recharge.
Although we hardly used the music player, no Internet and the camera function has been left to gather dust, but we text a fair bit, and the calling via Bluetooth has been used quite regularly.
We chose our Jabra HALO almost immediately for a better Bluetooth experience, but we were told the headset in the box will down faster than the phone itself, so it might be logical to a backup to ensure you do not chat on your wrist.
USB CLAMP: The standard connector for LG phones is cut in the flange to the load
Connectivity on offer was pretty standard - unlike most other phones Watch (not that we expect many to have used many others) at least the GD910 packs 3G, video telephony to cool.
There are obviously also Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP connectivity on board, you can use both single and a stereo Bluetooth headset cans listen to music in the Board and appeals.
We were a little upset not to see a 3.5 mm jack for headphones when the battery of the Bluetooth headset runs out, but we can imagine this was not possible given the size of Watch phone GD910.
The phone automatically works as an external mass storage when connected to the PC using the supplied USB cable (which you need from the back of the charger) which means you can drag and drop images and music the GD910.

Verdict:
The examination of a watch phone is a tricky prospect, as many traditional features, and we are looking for items are obviously not to be here.
But this does not prevent it from being something very different, and we like to at least have something different to play.
We loved
GD910 The Watch Phone has many interesting features, namely the fact that it is a watch and a telephone handset. The sleek design has been quite surprising, and the low weight on the wrist, and the battery continued much longer than we expected.
The touch screen is also excellent, probably only because he is dealing to 1.43 inches of touch screen, but he always gave great precision, text messages and trying to find a contact in the list.
We did
There is not a wide range of features on the phone Watch GD910, and if you miss power Bluetooth then you're stuck considered crazy chatting to your wrist.
1.43 inch touch screen does not, and despite looking sleek on the wrist that could be a little bigger. Another annoying problem is not able to keep the backlight and a cool illuminated clocks from day to day, instead of going into standby all the time.
Verdict
The LG Watch Phone GD910 is, finally, a ridiculous device like a phone on your wrist is not the most practical idea.
However, we can not help but love him because he is simply awesome - it shows a phone for crying out loud, the kind of device you want the design to the school when asked adapt your ultimate gadget (we expect the next generation spitting biscuits, then the dream is complete).
It's 'only' £ 500 as well, which may seem a lot for a lighter phone, but it is much less than 1000 pounds on the contract that we expect.
The LG Watch Phone GD910 will not be the best seller of the year and the price will probably attract only those with enough money to waste on casual trinkets, but a decent effort and hopefully spawn in the best future devices
